Simple Steps Toward Reducing Arm Pain

Arm pain can have many causes. Obviously an injury or muscle strain can cause pain in the arm. If you are right handed, arm strain may cause right back pain. Using a computer mouse is another of the causes of arm pain,—it can irritate the tendons that run along the arm. While it may just be muscle pain, arm pain or a combination of arm and back pain, especially when arm numbness also occurs, can signal problems with the neck or upper back. Sharp, chronic pain in the arm may signal a herniated disc in the neck. Proper arm pain treatment depends on getting the proper diagnosis.

All the bones, ligaments, muscles and tendons in the arm are subject to injury and can be responsible for your arm pain. But so can neck or back problems. Repetitive stress can cause carpal tunnel syndrome and other aches in the arm and hands. It can also cause tendonitis. Most of the time arm pain responds to pain medication. there rae other things you can do tor educe arm pain:

  • Stop using a mouse and see if your symptoms change. If the pain stops, see about getting a device other than a mouse.
  • If you experience radiating pain get checked out for skeletal or neurological problem. Getting to the underlying cause may be the may be the only way to rid yourself of arm pain.
  • If you have a sedentary job, get up and move around.
  • Try simple stretching and strengthening exercise and build up gradually.
  • Try acupuncture, chiropractic treatments, or physical therapy to rid yourself of persistent pain.

The key to permanently eliminating arm pain is getting the proper diagnosis in consultation with your health care provider. The right diagnosis will givb=ve you the best chance of treatment that will rid you of arm pain.
