The benefits of good nutrition to general health are well-known, but good nutrition can also be a specific part of back pain treatment and recovery from injury. It stands to reason that a healthy lifestyle keeps you in better shape to resist back injury and back pain. But certain nutritional elements are actually beneficial in healing back pain and maintaining back health. Along with the benefits of  exercise for back pain including the benefits of stretching for back pain, good nutrition can play a role in relieving back pain as well.

Good nutrition and a healthy diet help keep us from being overweight, and that’s crucial in reducing stress on the back and avoiding back pain. But it also happens that certain nutritional elements, such as vitamins, minerals, and additives, can affect our back health. Some research has shown that refined sugar and chemical additives can increase irritation and inflammation. But it’s also true that some nutritious food contains elements that aid in back pain symptoms. These vitamins and minerals can also be taken as supplements. For example:

  • Vitamin D. this vitamin, known as the “sunshine” vitamion, helps the body absorb calcium and regulates the blood level for phosphorus, which helps maintain healthy bones and cartilage.
